I’ve always been a scary movie fan, and I plan to watch a few of these as we get closer and closer to Halloween! Some of these might just be too much even for me.
These are apparently the scariest movies according to science! This is the fourth annual report from broadbandchoices’ Science of Scare Project. They took 250 participants and monitored their reactions to scary movies. They then assigned a scare score out of 100! For reference, the scare score of Shrek is around 3 out of 100. Here are the scariest movies:

9) Hell House LLC (2015) – Scare Score: 75
8) The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) – Scare Score: 76
7) Smile (2022) – Scare Score: 78
6) Hereditary (2018) – Scare Score: 81
5) The Conjuring (2013) – Scare Score: 88
4) Insidious (2010) – Scare Score: 90
3) Skinamarink (2022) – Scare Score: 91
2) Host (2020) – Scare Score: 95
1) Sinister (2012) – Scare Score: 96
