Local sports preview (Saturday)

The StFX men’s hockey team is in New Brunswick for AUS action.

The X-Men visit the UNB Varsity Reds at 7 p.m.

 

The Cape Breton West Islanders are on the road in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.

They visit the South Shore Mustangs.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.

 

The province’s two Nova Scotia Female Midget AAA Hockey League teams are on home ice.

The Northern Selects face the Fundy Nationals in New Glasgow at 12 p.m.

The Panthers play the EDZA West Reds in Membertou at 5 p.m.

 

The Cabot Highlanders host the Admirals in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.

Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 6 p.m.

 

The Novas are on the road in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

They visit Kings.

Game time is 4:30 p.m.

 

There are a pair of games in the Antigonish Rural League.

The Pleasantdale Panthers play the County Outlaws at 7 p.m.; the St. Croix Angels square off with the Heatherton Warriors at 8:30 p.m.

Both games are at the Antigonish Arena.

 

The province’s two Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams are on home ice.

The Cape Breton Eagles host the Baie-Comeau Drakkar at Centre 200 in Sydney, while the Halifax Mooseheads play Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson, Antigonish’s Jake and Sean Stewart and the Moncton Wildcats.

Both games get underway at 7 p.m.

 

The StFX basketball teams host the Memorial Seahawks in AUS action in Antigonish.

The women start at 6 p.m.; the men tip off at 8 p.m.

 

The StFX track and field teams are in Halifax.

They’re competing at the NS Athletics Last Chance Meet at the Canada Games Centre.
