A man charged in relation to a sexual assault in Port Hawkesbury is expected back in court Monday.
Police say James Darren Peters, 49, faces charges after a boy, 9, was lured into the bathroom of a business on Paint St. in Port Hawkesbury, forced into a stall, and had his pants pulled down.
They say the boy was able to escape and tell a family member.
Peters- who faces two counts of enticing a child from a parent, sexual interference, unlawful confinement, sexual assault and assault- was arrested Oct. 1 and released on conditions two days later; he’s scheduled to return to Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court.
Regional Cadet Support Unit (Atlantic) officials say Peters was a volunteer with the 2842 L’Ardoise Legion Engineering Army Cadets, but has since been suspended.
