Mulgrave transitions former school to biofuel

Mulgrave’s former school has gotten an upgrade.

The building’s oil heating system has been replaced with a biofuel heating system.

After Monday’s regular council meeting, Mayor Ralph Hadley told The Hawk it was a cost cutting measure.

“To try save money to try run this big school we entered into an agreement with DSM to purchase biofuel,” he said. “So far, it’s been working very well, we’ve been over two weeks now running on biofuel.”

Hadley said the change will save them between 20¢/litre and 30¢/litre on heating oil, and the upgrades will pay for themselves by the end of 2020.
