High winds and rain knocked out power to many homes and businesses in Antigonish, Guysborough and Inverness counties, as well as three schools.
Classes were cancelled at East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy in Monastery, Dalbrae Academy in Mabou and Ecole Acadienne de Pomquet due to power outages Tuesday; support staff were not required to report to work.
The Canso Causeway was closed to high-sided vehicles due to high winds; it has since re-opened to all traffic.
