Tuesday is the last day of the Victoria Co. housing survey; it’s been gathering information to try and get a better idea of housing need in the region for a month.
Warden Bruce Morrison says they were inspired by the success of Cheticamp’s housing survey.
Morrison tells The Hawk they can’t make decisions without good information.
“Well I think it helps us to plan as we move forward addressing some of the housing issues. I think it’ll give us an idea of what we should be looking at,” He says. “After the communities have identified what their needs are, gives us a direction in which to work towards.”
Morrison says they’ll be looking at availability and affordability but have a special interest in the impact short term housing is having on the rental market.
He says they expect to have a report on the results by early winter.
