Partners team up for potential local wind farm

A new wind farm could be coming to the Quad Counties.

Officials with the Canada Infrastructure Bank, a federal agency, have signed a memorandum of understanding with representatives from Port Hawkesbury Paper and IFE Project Management to conduct due diligence on the potential Pirate Harbour Wind Farm.

Stakeholders say that work could lead to investment in the project.

The 112-megawatt wind farm, which would supply green energy to the paper mill in Point Tupper, would be comprised of 28 four-megawatt wind turbines, 15 kilometres of overland transmission lines and two kilometres of subsea cables.

It’s the first project involving CIB officials in our province.
