Pair arrested in police chase have case adjourned

A man and woman from Alberta charged in relation to a chase that started in Antigonish Co. and ended with four police vehicles damaged in Pictou Co. have had their case adjourned and have been remanded back into custody.

RCMP say officers cuffed two people and put them in the back of an unmarked cruiser in relation to a stolen property investigation in Purl Brook Tuesday.

They say the pair fled in the vehicle, eventually crossing the median into oncoming traffic on Hwy. 104.

Police say officers used their vehicles to force the unmarked cruiser into the median; there were no injuries.

Tyler Hodgson, 22, and Julia King, 22, who are both from Grand Prairie, face 17 and 20 charges, respectively, in relation to Tuesday’s incidents- theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation, flight from police, escapes lawful custody and possession of property obtained by crime.

They also face dangerous operation and flight counts from Sunday.

Hodgson and King, who have been in custody since their arrests Tuesday, are scheduled for bail hearings in Antigonish Provincial Court Jan. 8.
