RCMP reminding you to stay safe on New Year’s Eve

The RCMP are reminding you to be careful on New Year’s Eve.

Antigonish Community Policing Officer Morgan MacPherson says you should plan ahead.

MacPherson tells The Hawk they’re extra vigilant for drunk and high drivers on New Year’s.

“There will be extra members out on the roads, and there will be checkpoints, and we’ll be checking for driver sobriety,” he says. “We just want to make sure everyone get’s home safe.”

MacPherson says they want people to have a good time but be prepared as well.

He says you should have a designated driver, take a cab, or plan to stay with a friend.

  • Kelly MacMillan lives in Port Hawkesbury with her husband and son. She has been part of the team at 101.5 The Hawk for more than 25 years, sharing stories from around the region. You can join her weekdays from 10am until 2pm.
