Local sports preview (Monday)

There are a few games on the holiday Monday sports schedule.

 

Playoffs start tonight in the Cape Breton West High School Hockey League.

Dalbrae will play Richmond in Port Hood at 7:15 p.m.

SAERC will play Eskasoni in Port Hawkesbury at 6 p.m..

Both series are the best two out of three.

 

The Novas return home to host the Rangers in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

It’s the third game in as many days for the Novas, who lost in Halifax Saturday, then beat Cole Harbour on the road Sunday.

The teams have split the first two games in their three-game season series.

Puck drop at the Keating Centre in Antigonish is 4 p.m.

 

The Halifax Mooseheads play the second of back-to-back games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Mooseheads, coming off Sunday afternoon’s loss against Saint John at home to sit ninth in the 10-team Eastern Conference, travel to New Brunswick to play Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson, Antigonish’s Jake and Sean Stewart, Beaver Meadow’s Ryan MacLellan and the Moncton Wildcats.

Moncton has won four of the first five games in the nine-game season series between the Maritimes Division rivals.

Game time is 2 p.m.
