Two local teams will compete for the NSSAF Div. 2 girls hockey banner in Mabou.
The Dalbrae Dragons host the Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals in the provincial championship game, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, but was postponed due to the weather.
The Dragons blanked Millwood 4-0 in Saturday’s semi-finals to move on; the Royals shutout Hants East 2-0 to advance.
The teams met during the preliminary round Friday night; Dalbrae won 2-1.
Game time is 5 p.m.
The Dalbrae Dragons will try to win the 2019-20 Cape Breton West High School Hockey League title on home ice.
They host the SAERC Saints in game two of the best-of-three, league final.
The Dragons slipped by the Saints 3-2 in the opening game of the series in Port Hawkesbury Wednesday night.
Puck drop at the Al MacInnis Sports Centre in Port Hood is 7:15 p.m.
A SAERC win sends the series back to Port Hawkesbury for a third and deciding game.
The Cabot Highlanders play their third home game in as many days in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.
They host the Cape Breton Jets.
The Highlanders (12-15-4), who have lost back-to-back games and five of the last six, are tied with the Admirals for fifth in the eight-team league with 28 points, 12 points behind the Voyageurs for fourth, and eight points ahead of seventh-place Fundy; the last-place Jets (5-24-2) have 12 points.
It’s the sixth and final regular season game in the Battle of Cape Breton- the Highlanders have a 3-2 edge through the first five.
Puck drop at the Cabot Trail Arena in Cheticamp is 7 p.m.
