Local hospitals face more ER closures

There are more emergency department closures at a pair of local hospitals.

The ER at the Victoria Co. Memorial Hospital in Baddeck will shut down between 6 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday; it will also be closed from 6 p.m. Thursday until 8 a.m. Friday.

The reason for the closures is a lack of physician coverage.

Meanwhile, the emergency department at the St. Anne Centre in Arichat will close from 7 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday; the reason for that closure is RN unavailability.

You’re asked to go to another emergency room or call 911 with a medical emergency; you can call 811 for any non-urgent health issues.

Both emergency departments were also closed Saturday night; they re-opened Sunday morning.
