Local women’s leadership conference postponed due to COVID-19

A local women’s leadership conference, which has received support from municipalities, businesses, and individuals from across the Quad Counties, has been postponed due to COVID-19.

The Leadership School for Women was set for May 1-2, but Port Hawkesbury Mayor Brenda Chisholm-Beaton says the pandemic makes the meeting impossible.

Chisholm-Beaton says they can’t make a decision on how to move forward until there is more certainty around how long the COVID-19 pandemic will last.

“I think that we’re probably in for a longer than anticipated time where we’re going to have to continue to be careful.”

Chisholm-Beaton says the conference is important, but public health measures must be followed.

She says it will be delayed until at least summer, and they’re also looking at ways to deliver the conference virtually.
