Strang say compassion still required during COVID-19 pandemic

Compassion is important during the COVID-19 pandemic.

That’s the continuing message from Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang from a press conference Wednesday.

Dr. Strang says physical distancing rules are important, but there are some exceptions.

“While many people who are blind or visually impaired are very independent, there may be circumstances where they actually need help from somebody. That may require somebody breaking that rule around social distancing.”

Afterward, Premier Stephen MacNeil took time to address the province’s plans for after the pandemic.

MacNeil says we aren’t close yet, but the government is planning for that day.

“We’re now looking at what are the potential options of not only of opening up our economy, but looking at how do we loosen restrictions around mobility of citizens and access to parks and beaches,” he says. “But let me be clear, we’re not there. We need Nova Scotians to stay committed to following the public health orders.”

MacNeil says infrastructure projects are being prepared for when the province opens again.

The latest COVID-19 update from the Department of Health and Wellness shows 32 new COVID-19 cases were identified Wednesday.

That’s a total of 549 province wide; with 42 in the eastern zone.
