MacMaster says bridge replacements boon for area

The MLA for Inverness says the replacement of bridges in his riding is a long time coming.

Allan MacMaster says Captain’s River Bridge near Port Hood and Nelson’s Bridge in Margaree Valley needed to be replaced.

MacMaster tells The Hawk the Captain’s River Bridge is on Rte. 19, a heavily travelled road that’s key for Inverness Co. tourism.

“It’s the main route for the coastal area of Inverness Co., and it’s popular in the summertime (when) traffic volumes increase,” he says. “A new bridge going in there this summer will improve the traffic flow into the future.”

MacMaster says COVID-19 moved the projects along.

He says residents have had to deal the temporary Captain’s River Bridge far too long.

“I know a lot of people were wondering when it would happen,” he said. “I think people will be very happy to see the permanent structure in place.”

MacMaster says the bridges are important for area tourism.

He says it’s good they’ll be replaced in a year with less tourist traffic, and be ready for the next tourism season.
