Guysborough ER faces overnight closure

A hospital in the Quad Counties is losing emergency department service during overnight hours for the foreseeable future.

Officials with the Nova Scotia Health Authority say the two physicians working at Guysborough Memorial Hospital are no longer able to provide 24-hour coverage alone.

The hospital’s ER will be closed from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. starting Thursday.

NSHA officials haven’t said how long this will be case, but it will likely last until they can recruit another doctor.
