A new telephone scam is making the rounds.
Richmond Co. RCMP say someone is calling potential victims pretending to be a police officer, and telling them a warrant is out for their arrest.
They say a phone number associated with the St. Peter’s RCMP detachment (1-902-535-3023) shows up on caller ID.
Police say you wouldn’t be advised of an arrest warrant by phone, and you should hang up.
They say you should call your local RCMP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (1-888-495-8501) if you receive this type of call; you can also report it online by clicking here.
