Inverness Co. warden will run for council again

The warden of the Municipality of the County of Inverness says she’ll reoffer for her council seat.

Betty Ann MacQuarrie says her time on council has been productive.

MacQuarrie tells The Hawk she isn’t done yet.

“There’s also many things that we have on the hopper that I would like to see completed,” she says. “We’re getting so close to getting things done.”

MacQuarrie says chief among those are improvements to internet and cell phone coverage in the region.

She says she hasn’t decided if she’ll put her name in for warden again.

“I’ll make that decision when the time comes, but I have enjoyed the challenge and I may do it again,” she says. “I’ll know better when the time comes.”

Council will choose a warden from their number following the October 17 election.

MacQuarrie’s first term as warden was marked by two unsuccessful attempts to remove her from the position.
