Antigonish venue among first to host more than 250

The Riverside International Speedway is planning their first race since COVID-19 restrictions came into effect.

The Antigonish Co. venue is one of only four in the province public health will allow to host events with more than 250 people.

Speedway officials say the grandstand will be split into 250-spectator-each sections, all with separate washrooms, entries and exits.

The infield area will be limited to essential staff and race team members.

They say the plan would only use 20 per cent of the facility’s normal capacity.

If the province approves the Speedway officials’ plan, the race is set for Sept. 26.
