A musician from Inverness Co.’s sex assault case has been adjourned.
A trial was set to begin Thursday, court was instead adjourned.
Police charged Gerry Deveau, 85, following a 2010 incident involving a 10-year-old girl in St. Joseph du Moine.
Deveau was sentenced to six months behind bars for failing to travel to a scheduled appointment by the most direct route in April 2018.
RCMP charged him with another sexual assault count in relation to an incident in Margaree in 1996; the complainant in the case was 17 at the time.
Deveau was scheduled to stand trial in that case in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Thursday; it didn’t go forward because, instead it was adjourned.
It’s scheduled to resume on Nov. 20.
It was also adjourned in Jun. 2019, November, and August.
The Belle Cote man, known as the “Spoon Man”, was sentenced to 12 months of house arrest and 12 months of probation in March 2018; he was placed on the sex offender registry for a 10-year period.
