Canada surpasses 400K COVID-19 cases

A sombre milestone for the pandemic, with over 400,000 COVID-19 cases nationwide.

Ontario broke another record for the most confirmed cases in a single day, reporting 1,859 more people tested positive as of Saturday morning.

Right now there are just over 70,000 active cases across Canada, and nearly 12,500 people have died since the start of the pandemic.

Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam calls ongoing outbreaks in long-term care homes “deeply concerning”, saying many Canadians remain susceptible to the virus.
