Four railway crossings tampered with in Antigonish Co.

Railway crossings in Antigonish Co. have been tampered with.

RCMP say they recently responded to a fourth incident, this time in Monastery.

Police say the lights at each crossing were tampered with to activate the crossing lights indicating that a train was coming, even though none were.

At one railway crossing the lights were tampered with to shorten the warning time of an approaching train by more than 50%.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Antigonish RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and remind the public to exercise caution when approaching railway crossings.
