There’s a new councillor in the Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s.
James Harpell beat James Bingley in a special election in District 8 with 77 per cent of the vote, 158-to-46.
The election was called following the resignation of Peggy Kaiser-Kirk in October.
Voting was done by phone and internet only; it opened Jan. 9 and closed at 7 p-m Saturday.
Voter turnout was 73 per cent.
