PM signs deal for Canada-made COVID-19 vaccine

Canada is working toward producing the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a new agreement with Novavax, which includes the construction of a facility in Montreal to manufacture it.

The work is expected to be done by the end of the year.

“Pending Health Canada approval, tens of millions of Novavax COVID-19 doses will be made right here at home,” Trudeau says.

He explains Precision NanoSystems is also on track to produce made-in-Canada vaccines, and is receiving up to $25.1-million in federal funding to build a vaccine and treatment production facility.

The federal government is giving up to $14-million to Edesa Biotech for COVID-19 treatments.
