Local sports preview (Sunday)

The two local teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League are on the road.

The Antigonish Bulldogs travel to Trenton to play the Pictou Co. Scotians at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs have won the first two games in the season series by a combined score of 12-1.

The Strait Pirates visit the Eskasoni Eagles at 7 p.m.

The teams have split the first two games in the season series.

 

The Cape Breton West Islanders visit the Valley Wildcats for the second time in as many days in the Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League.

The Wildcats won Saturday night’s game between the teams in Berwick.

Game time is 1:30 p.m.

The Battle of Cape Breton resumes in the Nova Scotia U16 AAA Hockey League.

 

The Cabot Highlanders, coming off a road win against the Admirals Saturday night, host the Cape Breton Jets.

It’s the second game of the regular season between the teams; the Highlanders won the first 2-1 in overtime in Membertou Feb. 11.

Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 3 p.m.

The latest edition of the Battle of Nova Scotia takes place in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

 

The Halifax Mooseheads host the Cape Breton Eagles, who are coming off a loss in Charlottetown Saturday night.

The provincial rivals have split the first eight games of their season series.

Puck drop at Scotiabank Centre is 4 p.m.

It’s the first of three straight games between the teams, who square off again in Sydney Tuesday and Friday.
