The Eagles (11-13-0), who snapped a two-game losing skid, and Mooseheads (8-13-6), losers of five straight, are tied for second in the six-team Maritimes Division with 22 points, 18 points behind Charlottetown for top spot, and two points ahead of fourth-place Acadie-Bathurst.
Cape Breton has a slight 5-4 edge through the first nine games of the season series; it was the first of three straight games between the teams, who meet again Sydney Tuesday and Friday.
