Halifax man charged for attempted Cape Breton hiking trip

Cheticamp RCMP have charged a man, and fined him $2,422, for violating the Health Protection Act.

Police say officers pulled the man over for speeding on the Cabot Trail in St. Joseph Du Moine, Inverness Co., around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

They say officers discovered the driver was from Halifax and had been travelling to hike the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

He was charged for non-essential travel outside his municipality.
