Testimony is set to resume at the Desmond Fatality Inquiry Monday afternoon.
The last evidentiary session, which started in February, lasted 22 days.
It ended just before the third wave of COVID-19 hit the province in April, which forced a delay in the resumption of the inquiry.
Warren Zimmer, the inquiry’s presiding judge, says proceedings can safely resume now that in-person court hearings have returned and public health restrictions limiting travel have been lifted.
Testimony is expected to continue at the Port Hawkesbury Justice Centre at 1 p.m., and run through Wednesday; Thursday has also been set aside in case more time is needed.
Lionel Desmond, a veteran of the Afghan war who was diagnosed with PTSD, killed his wife, daughter, mother, then himself in their home in Upper Big Tracadie in Guysborough Co. in Jan. 2017.
