Man charged in Cheticamp fire pleads guilty

A suspect facing an arson charge following a fire in Inverness Co. has entered a guilty plea.

Blaze Anthony Basker, 46, pleaded guilty during an election-and-plea hearing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday.

Basker is scheduled to return to court for sentencing Sept. 9.

Police say officers responded to a boat on fire at a Cheticamp business in December.

They say they investigated, and determined the fire was deliberately set.

No one was hurt.
