New Glasgow police investigating arson

New Glasgow Regional Police are investigating a fire at a vacant residence in New Glasgow.

Police, fire departments from New Glasgow, Trenton and Stellarton responded to a vacant house on fire at 7:30 on Wednesday morning.

Mackay street from Maclean street to Lorne street was closed to traffic for over five hours.

EHS and Nova Scotia Power were also on site.

Police say, the vacant residence had extensive fire and smoke damage. Preliminary investigations revealed the fire was intentionally set.

This is the second case of arson in the area this week.

Police ask people to check any video devices, such as security cameras and dash cams, that may help identify who’s responsible.

They also ask anyone with information about the blaze to report it New Glasgow Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
