The annual Provincial Seamen’s Memorial Service is set to take place on Sunday in Canso.
Organizer Ray White tells The Hawk it’s a tribute to those who lost their lives at sea.
White says it’s been a difficult year for Nova Scotia as we grapple with several lost or wrecked boats.
“Within the fishery, although we can be as careful as we want, sometimes tragedy happens beyond our control,” he says.
Much like last year, this year’s service will be scaled back with COVID precautions in mind, white says. There will be a laying of memorial wreaths and a choir performance from a local church.
The service takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday.
