Accessing municipal facilities in Phase Five

Today marks our official entry into Phase Five of the province’s COVID-19 recovery plan.

That mean’s there are new rules in place for accessing municipal facilities in Port Hawkesbury.

Starting today, the Civic Centre will have enhanced directional signage; visitors will need to check in at the box office during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30).

For events after 4:30 p.m, you should go directly to the event location — and be ready to show that you’ve got both shots of a vaccine.

Phase five also brings new rules around what you will and won’t need to show proof of vaccination for.

Proof of Vaccination status will be required for;

· All arena activities
· All pool activities
· All facility rentals
· All arts and entertainment activities and events
· Recreation programs
· Fitness Centre
· Canteen services

Proof of vaccination will not be required for these essential activities;

· Routine municipal business, in example, paying of taxes or utilities or routine inquiries
· Eastern District Planning activities, unless dictated by that office
· Strait Area Transit, unless dictated by that office
· Y-Reach
· Legislatively required meetings where public participation cannot be done virtually (such as municipal council meetings where citizens have a democratic right to participate)

There are also new hours of operation in place for the walking track. Beginning today, it’ll be open Monday-Friday 6am-4pm

Masking will continue to be required in all areas of the Civic Centre.
