A man from Guysborough Co. facing 23 sex-related charges has been released on bail while awaiting trial.
Police say their investigation involving Kevin Craig Hart, 50, of Country Harbour started in May 2020; charges include sexual interference, unlawful confinement, sexual assault, assault, administering a noxious substance, voyeurism and uttering threats.
At a court appearance on Oct. 12, a release order was issued with a $25,000 financial obligation and two sureties who assume responsibility for Hart while he’s on bail.
As per the conditions of his release, Hart will have to adhere to a strict set of rules.
Among his conditions: a curfew, weekly meetings with police, prohibited access to cannabis, alcohol or firearms and zero contact with any of the victims involved in the case.
He’s also required to reside with one of his sureties and can’t leave Cape Breton unless it’s to visit his Country Harbour Property and he’s under the constant supervision of a surety.
Hart, who was arrested May 29, 2020, has his trial set in Sydney Supreme Court for Nov. 29 – Dec. 2, 2022.
RCMP say the alleged offences, which took place between 1999 and 2018, involve three victims, including two children in their teens.
They say there are additional victims who have yet to come forward; they’re asking them to contact police.
