Homelessness count taking place across Eastern Zone

A local housing group is partnering with several other organizations to gather data about homelessness in our region.

The Strait Richmond Housing Matters Coalition will work in partnership with the Mental Health and Addictions Health Promotion team with Nova Scotia Health in Eastern Zone, Cape Breton University and the Affordable Housing and Homelessness Working Group to measure the scope of Homelessness.

“When the opportunity to access funding and to partner on this project presented itself, we were totally onboard as we knew it would help us identify populations at risk, help to increase awareness, and provide the much needed data to support funding requests and inform public policy,” said Warden of Richmond County, Amanda Mombourquette, Co-Chair of the Coalition.

The groups will conduct the service-based count throughout the month of November.

Service providers will take part in a survey based on what they know about clients using their services who are facing housing issues.
