RCMP in Richmond County say they have charged a 36 year old man from Chapel Island after complaints came in about a man wearing an unconcealed handgun on his waist at a store in St. Peter’s.
They say once they started investigating the complaint police executed a search warrant on January 20 at a home on Old Band Office Road in Chapel Island.
Police say the man was taken into custody and they seized a rifle, a number of airsoft guns and a prohibited magazine and ammunition.
He was released on conditions and will appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court to face charges of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.
RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
