The Royal Canadian Legion NS/Nunavut Command winners for the 2021-2022 Poster and Literary Contest have been announced and include three local students.
Sara Pluta, a Grade 12 student at SAERC has placed first Provincially in the Senior Poetry Category for her poem “Life in the Trenches”.
Sara has also placed first Provincially in the Senior Essay Category for her essay “The Meaning of Remembrance”.
Sara placed first Nationally for her poem “My PTSD” in 2018.
Annie Maltby, a Grade 11 student at SAERC has placed second Provincially in the Senior Poetry Category for her poem “Letter of War”.
Charlie Landry, a Grade five student at TEC has placed second Provincially in the Junior Poetry Category for her poem “Poppies and Crosses”.
All first place winners will also be judged at Nationals.
