RCMP say the body of the missing captain of a vessel, Fisherman’s Provider II, has been identified.
Police say local fishers recovered the body of Roger Stoddard, 64, at about 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The investigation was handed back to RCMP from JRCC and Canadian Coast Guard officials Thursday.
The boat ran aground on Frying Pan Shoal Tuesday; three crew members were rescued following a call at about 8 p.m. that evening; officials say the captain was adamant to remain on the vessel.
RCMP say they would like to acknowledge the local fishing community and community members in Canso.
