STFX Athletes of the Week

X-Women Track runner Aidan MacDonald was named the STFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 20, 2022.

Aidan, a 4th year Business student from Antigonish, NS won four medals at the AUS championship this past weekend in Moncton, including three gold.

Aidan was the gold medalist and AUS champion in the 600m race, finishing with a 1:36.20 showing.

She also claimed top spot in the 1000m event, clocking in at 2:58.15.

Aidan anchored the X-Women 4x800m relay team to gold, and was also a member of the 4x400m relay team who earned the bronze medal.

She has qualified to represent STFX at the U SPORTS national championship in Saint John, NB coming up March 31 – April 2.

X-Men Hockey goaltender Joseph Raaymakers was named STFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 20, 2022.

Joseph, a fourth year Human Kinetics student from Chatham, ON backstopped the X-Men to two overtime victories over SMU to sweep their AUS semifinal series 2-0, advancing to the AUS final and booked a spot at the U SPORTS national championship.

Joe was player of the game in Friday’s 2-1 overtime win at home with 24 saves, and was solid in the X net again Sunday in their 3-2 overtime win in Halifax with 17 saves. He had a .896 save percentage and 3.17 GGA with a 14-4-0 record in regular season play this year for the 2nd place X-Men.
