Province Providing Support For Ukrainian Immigrants

The government is making it easier for Ukrainian refugees to enter Nova Scotia.

In a release, the province says the immigration process is being streamlined and applications are being processed urgently.

They say newcomers from the war-battered country will be eligible for provincially funded settlement programs.

Immigration Minister Jill Balser says they’re working with the local Ukrainian community and partners to identify ways to address gaps in support.

The province will also partner with the YMCA to help the refugees connect with potential employers and the community.

Premier Tim Houston says we have a history of helping people in this province, and will continue to do so.
