SiRT investigating after Antigonish man killed on Highway 104

A 22 year old Antigonish man is dead after being struck by an RCMP vehicle last night.

Antigonish County District RCMP say they were responding to a call that a man was walking on Highway 104 in the Addington Forks area around 10;30pm.

They say while officers were looking for the man he was struck by an RCMP vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say today a man attended the Pictou Detachment and reported that he had been in a collision on Hwy. 104 in Addington Forks last night.

The man advised that he had struck an unknown object on the highway, however, after learning of the fatality overnight, he reported the collision to the RCMP for further investigation.

The investigation has been taken over by the Serious Incident Response Team.
