The head coach of the Cape Breton Eagles has resigned.
The team announced Chadd Cassidy’s decision on Wednesday citing family reasons.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that the Cape Breton Eagles have provided me,” Cassidy says in a news release.
“It was my every intention that my family would be moving with me to Cape Breton when I took the job, but my family situation has changed and we are unable to relocate to Cape Breton,” the statement reads. “After getting back home with my family it became more and more clear to me that I can’t be without them. After a very long and difficult decision-making process, I have decided to step down as Head Coach of the Cape Breton Eagles.”
Cassidy is a native of Lake Placid, New York.
He was hired in January following the sudden resignation of previous head coach Jake Grimes.
The search for a new coach kicks off immediately.
