New Funding for Nova Scotia Farmers

New funding is now available to assist farmers in Nova Scotia.

Farms have a chance to receive up to $75,000 from the On Farm Climate Action Fund that can be used to mitigate the impacts that climate change has had on farming.

One Nova Scotia farmer hopes to use the funding for cover cropping, the practice of planting crops to protect the quality of the soil.

When Farmers make improvements in their soil organic matter, they also remove carbon from the atmosphere and sequester it in the soil, A measure that could go a long way to reaching Canada’s goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.

The first intake of applications for this funding are open until July 31st. More information is available at https://ofcaf.perennia.ca
