MacKinnon To Hold Cup Parade In Halifax

Nathan MacKinnon will host a Stanley Cup parade this summer.

Speaking with the High Button Sports podcast, MacKinnon says the parade will happen in downtown Halifax.

“My Mom used to work for the city, so she’s been meeting with the Mayor, and just trying to figure out the routes, around Citadel Hill, Brunswick Street and City Hall Square,” MacKinnon said.

He didn’t confirm an official date, but he says having it in Halifax means a lot to him.

“Cole Harbour means the world to me, but so does Halifax. I played junior hockey here. We’ll probably take it through Spring Garden Road too. I hope lots of people come out.”

MacKinnon says Cole Harbour has already held four Stanley Cup parades, three for Sidney Crosby and one for Joe DiPenta in 2007.

MacKinnon won his first Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche last month.
