In honour of the 46th Annual Seamans Memorial Day, The Lions Club in Canso held a special ceremony on Sunday.
The service was held at the Seamans memorial and wreaths were laid in honour of fisherman lost at sea.
Area churches took part with Rev. Heather Manual of Saint Paul’s United Church reading the opening prayer.
Lions’ members also read the names from the memorial.
MP Mike Kelloway was a special guest and took the time to highlight the importance of the memorial service and the importance of the fishery to many communities.
Honourable Greg Morrow minister of agriculture brought greetings from the province and congratulated the Canso lions for hosting the service.
The wreaths will be on display until August 21st.
