Citizens on Patrol is looking for more members to help keep communities safe. Members are volunteers that report criminal activity to the police and take part in patrols.
There are 100 citizens on patrol volunteers in Nova Scotia consisting of 8 active groups. There are currently no active C.O.P members or groups in the Quad Counties but if enough volunteers from the area show interest a group can be created.
Volunteers must have a valid drivers’ license and a good driving record, pass a security screening by the RCMP, and they must be at least 19 years of age.
Volunteers will be trained by the RCMP, this will include note taking, report writing, memory and observation skills, and duties and responsibilities of C.O.P members. Each member will be required to contribute to at least four patrols a month while making observations and taking notes of areas visited.
