The Municipality of the County of Inverness held a council meeting yesterday afternoon. One of the items on the agenda was issues with cell service in the region. These service gaps have made it hard for residents to call 911 in emergencies.
The municipality previously submitted applications for funding targeted at addressing these gaps, only to be rejected. The next step is to have a meeting with the minister responsible for the Universal Broadband Fund to see if there are other funding options available that can improve cell service.
Council will continue to do everything possible to ensure residents can make calls on their cell phones
The meeting also featured a presentation from Charlotte Macdonald the recreation director that showcased the success of this years Recreation Summer Student Program. Summer student staff members put on some fun programming for children in the county to take part in, things like activity days, volleyball tournaments, and a new floorball program.
The staff members this year are, Recreation Summer Student Coordinator Hallie MacNeil, and the summer recreation summer students Sarah MacDonald, Neil MacLean and Taylor MacIsaac.
MacDonald says the summer staff members were amazing, energetic, reliable, and dependable and is very please with their work.
