The province has seen a shortage of doctors and healthcare workers, but Port Hawkesbury will soon be gaining one.
Doctor Atul Chhokar has an extensive medical resume and Port Hawkesburys Mayor, and Council are eager to have him onboard. Dr. Chhokar attended medical school in Ukraine before working as a junior doctor in India for a year. He is fluently bilingual in Hindi and English and volunteers his time with the Red Cross Health Care Loan Equipment Program in Sydney, and the Strait2ukraine program in Port Hawkesbury.
The town plans to write a letter to MLA Allan Macmaster with a goal of getting his support to allow Dr. Chhokar to being his practice in the area as soon as possible.
