Fire Prevention Week, Fire Won’t Wait, Plan Your Escape

This week is fire prevention week and this year’s campaign is, “Fire Wont’ Wait, Plan Your Escape”. CBRM fire prevention officer Steve Mackenzie encourages everyone to create a fire escape plan for their homes in case a fire breaks out.

In order to ensure you escape your home safely, make sure you know all your exits and check your windows to ensure they open properly should you have to exit through a window. Set up a place to meet with your family after you evacuate.

It’s also important to test smoke alarms to ensure they are working properly. Operational smoke alarms save lives.
