Today is the first day of Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month.
The aim is to connect Nova Scotia students with agriculture professionals through the Agriculture in the Classroom program.
This will give youth an opportunity to learn where they’re food comes from and encourage them to pursue a career in agriculture. Workers from across the industry will be visiting 195 classrooms in the province.
“I have volunteered with Agriculture in the Classroom since it started in Nova Scotia, and I look forward to the program each year.” Says Geneve Newcombe from Cornwallis Farms Ltd. “Engaging with students and sharing what we do on our farm sparks interest.”
The Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month started in 2017 and grew out of Nova Scotia’s Agricultural Literacy Week campaign.
