Antigonish man charged in relation to fatal crash expected back in court Wednesday

A man from Antigonish Co. facing charges following a fatal crash in Porter’s Lake has had his case adjourned.

RCMP say the fatal two-car collision happened on Hwy. 107 in Jan. 2018.

They say the 49-year-old driver of one car died and two others were injured.

Police say their investigation determined the safety inspection on one of the vehicles had been improperly completed, and the person who inspected the vehicle was the subject of another incident involving an improper inspection earlier that month.

Chet Bernard Chisholm, 45, of Lakevale has been charged with criminal negligence causing death, two criminal negligence causing bodily harm counts and breach of trust.

Chisholm was expected for election-and-plea in Antigonish Provincial Court Wednesday; instead, the hearing was adjourned until May 22.

It was also adjourned in March and April.
